Sammy T Dobson, the 39-year-old actress portraying Nicole Piper on BBC’s long-running medical drama Casualty, shares her bold ambition to compete on Richard Osman’s House of Games. She declares that winning the week’s final would surpass even her wedding day, and her husband, Chappy—whom she married in June 2024—fully supports this dream.
Ultimate TV Vow
Dobson, a Geordie actress and comedian, envisions a dramatic finale. “If I ever get on Richard Osman’s House of Games, because I think it’s the best show on television, if I get to the last episode of the week, and it looks like I’m going to win, I’ll wear my wedding dress,” she states. “Because if I got to win that show, and my husband knows this, I’ve said it in front of him, that will be better than my wedding day,” she adds with a laugh.
Wedding Dress Makes Charity Debut
This vow marks only the second time Dobson would wear her glamorous wedding gown. She previously donned it for the Keep Standing Up charity comedy gala, featuring female comedians from the North East. The event occurred just three days after her wedding, during a rare break from Casualty filming.
“I’ve obviously had to do a lot less stand-up while I’ve been doing Casualty because I only get the weekends off. So I come home and spend the time with my husband and my dog, and then go back and film,” Dobson explains. She took holiday leave for the show, noting, “I was still in wedding dress shape, and because I thought I’m never going to get to wear that really expensive, beautiful dress again, I just did the show in my wedding dress. It seemed a shame not to.”
Hosting Keep Standing Up Again
Dobson returns to host Keep Standing Up on International Women’s Day, March 8, at the Tyne Theatre and Opera House. Though she skips the wedding dress this year, she promises an unforgettable night.
“It means so much to me,” she says. “This night is about celebrating brilliant women in comedy, lifting each other up, and using laughter to bring people together—but it’s also about shining a light on something incredibly important. Rape Crisis Tyneside and Northumberland do life-changing work supporting women who have experienced sexual violence, and I’m so proud that this event is helping raise awareness and vital funds for them.”
Tickets for the event are available now.
