Football Stars Enjoy Lavish Post-Wedding Getaway
Football stars Sam Kerr and Kristie Mewis recently enjoyed an extravagant mini-honeymoon at a luxury Oxfordshire retreat following their New Year’s Eve wedding in Australia. The couple stayed at the exclusive Estelle Manor in England’s Cotswolds region, where nightly rates reportedly reach $2400.
Relaxation and Fine Dining
The newlyweds traveled 90 minutes from London with their infant son Jagger to experience the manor’s premium amenities. Mewis described their stay as the ultimate relaxation experience, noting: “They have different restaurants on site, everything you would ever want to relax there. We went to every single restaurant and sat there for three or four hours in one sitting.”
The couple reportedly spent extended mornings enjoying leisurely breakfasts that stretched from 7 AM until 11 AM. “We just kept ordering coffees and things,” Mewis added. “It’s one of those places where you don’t have to do anything – we felt like we just sat and ate the whole time.”
Asian Cup Preparations Underway
As Kerr prepares for the upcoming Asian Cup tournament with the Matildas, the Australian striker reflected on her previous championship victory in 2010. “Sixteen years ago seems crazy,” Kerr stated. “It shows how hard it is to win the Asian Cup and the importance of the tournament.”
New Coaching Dynamics
The Australian team captain expressed enthusiasm about working with new coach Joe Montemurro. “He wants to play a certain style of football, which has been really clear,” Kerr commented. “When you have a clear identity as a team, it’s easy to get everyone to focus. It’s nice to have an Aussie coaching you – he’s a top coach who’s been really good for the group off the pitch too.”
The Matildas will face Philippines, Iran, and South Korea in their group stage matches during the tournament, which kicks off March 1 in Perth.
