The Royals and catcher Salvador Perez agreed on a brand new two-year contract Tuesday to maintain the franchise icon in Kansas Metropolis via the 2027 season.
Contract phrases weren’t disclosed, however a number of retailers reported it’s value $25 million.
Perez, 35, has performed all 14 seasons of his main league profession in Kansas Metropolis and is a nine-time All-Star, five-time Gold Glove winner and five-time Silver Slugger.
He helped the Royals win the World Collection in 2015 and earned World Collection MVP honors. Perez was named staff captain in 2023.
In 155 video games this previous season, Perez batted .236, his lowest mark since 2018, with 30 residence runs and 100 RBIs. Throughout 1,707 profession video games, Perez has batted .264 and launched 303 homers with 1,016 RBIs.
