The Tampa Bay Rays acquired outfielder Justyn-Henry Malloy from the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday for money issues.
The Tigers designated Malloy for project on Dec. 21 to clear a roster spot for reliever Kyle Finnegan.
Malloy, who turns 26 subsequent month, batted .221 with just one house run in 127 plate appearances final season.
He hit .209 with 9 homers, 38 RBIs and 117 strikeouts in 123 video games since making his debut with Detroit in 2024.
Initially drafted within the sixth spherical by the Atlanta Braves in 2021, he was traded to the Tigers in December of 2022.
