To the editor: Kudos to the activists who took issues into their very own fingers to make their streets safer, regardless of bureaucratic hurdles and the Division of Transportation’s inaction (“Activists paint Westwood crosswalk to enhance security. Police shut down effort, cite volunteer for vandalism,” Dec. 8).

Our neighborhood has struggled with issues of safety ever because the Palisades fireplace prompted visitors on Sundown Boulevard to grow to be insupportable. Visitors apps are directing rushing automobiles down our residential streets throughout rush hours. Our streets are slender. We now have no sidewalks, however residents nonetheless stroll their canine and experience their bikes.

We now have pursued each avenue to acquire cease indicators on our cross streets, to no avail. We even provided to pay for the printing and set up of those indicators and have been advised that might be unlawful.

We want motion, not platitudes, from the mayor. Do we have to have much more visitors deaths earlier than the Division of Transportation will assist us?
