California Gov. Gavin Newsom mentioned on Sunday he’ll sue the Trump administration over the deployment of 300 California Nationwide Guard personnel to Oregon.

“We’re suing Donald Trump. His deployment of the California Nationwide Guard to Oregon isn’t about crime. It’s about energy. He’s utilizing our navy as political pawns to construct up his personal ego,” Newsom wrote in a submit on X. “It’s appalling. It’s un-American. And it should cease,” he added.

The transfer comes simply sooner or later after a federal decide blocked President Donald Trump’s try to deploy Oregon Nationwide Guard troops in Portland.

“In response to a federal courtroom order that blocked his try to federalize the Oregon Nationwide Guard, President Trump is deploying 300 California Nationwide Guard personnel into Oregon. They’re on their method there now,” Newsom, a Democrat, wrote in an announcement. 

“It is a breathtaking abuse of the legislation and energy. The Trump administration is unapologetically attacking the rule of legislation itself and placing into motion their harmful phrases — ignoring courtroom orders and treating judges, even these appointed by the president himself, as political opponents.”

Oregon Lawyer Common Dan Rayfield wrote on X that Trump is “hellbent on deploying the navy” to U.S. cities “absent details or authority to take action.”

“It’s as much as us and the courts to carry him accountable. That is what we intend to do,” Rayfield added.

A spokesperson for the Pentagon referred questions in regards to the deployment to the White Home.

The White Home referred to as the lawsuit “political theater,” with spokesperson Abigail Jackson saying Trump “exercised his lawful authority” and accusing Newsom of siding with “violent criminals destroying Portland.”
