Zack Peter weighed in on the ongoing case surrounding the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie. In a video uploaded to X on February 24, Peter discussed Savannah Guthrie’s announcement of a $1 million reward for information and addressed growing speculation that Nancy may no longer be alive.

Peter began by highlighting how much time had passed since Nancy’s disappearance, suggesting that the Guthrie family may have come to terms with the possibility that she was no longer alive.

“Day 24 in the disappearance of Nancy… Nancy Guthrie is still missing, but Savannah Guthrie has just announced a $1 million reward… Savannah is also acknowledging that it’s possible that their mother may have passed on at this point,” Peter said.

He then suggested that Savannah’s statement appeared to respond to mounting public speculation about the family’s level of involvement in the search.

“It seems like Savannah is now addressing a lot of the speculation, or at least questions, that many of us, myself included, have had about the Guthrie family and kind of just their lack of involvement or participation in this investigation. One being, the biggest one, they haven’t offered a single penny towards the investigation,” he explained.

According to Peter, the newly announced reward marked a significant shift in the family’s approach.

He noted that 24 days into the disappearance, the “$1 million reward” offer was intended to generate new leads or tips that could bring clarity to what happened to Nancy Guthrie.

Beyond the reward, Peter also pointed to what he described as a substantial philanthropic gesture by the Guthrie family.

He said they had donated $500,000 to organizations supporting missing children and families searching for loved ones, calling the contribution “really, really big” on their part.

Zack Peter also added that the family had begun addressing the public, expressing gratitude for the support and prayers they had received throughout the investigation.

In the aforementioned video update on Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance, Zack Peter shared new developments in the ongoing case while raising difficult questions about where the investigation stood.

His remarks came as the Guthrie family continued philanthropic efforts tied to the search and announced a $1 million reward for information, a move that Peter suggested may reflect a growing acceptance that their mother may no longer be alive.

Peter noted that many of the points currently circulating in discussions about the case were not new. He explained that much of the public conversation consisted of questions and bullet points that he and others had already explored in previous coverage.

“Again, these are a lot of questions and talking points, or just at least bullet points that myself and others have hit on in previous videos. So that’s why it just feels a little… I don’t want to say too little too late because I still hope that there is some conclusion,” he said.

He then addressed the painful possibility that Nancy Guthrie may have already died, stating that while he wanted her returned safely to her family, he believed it was increasingly likely, nearly 24 days into the disappearance, that she had “passed on.”

“I do want Nancy Guthrie to be returned to her family. I tend to agree with Savannah here. I think it’s very, very likely 24 days in that Nancy Guthrie has passed on at this point. I don’t think that that’s an unrealistic reality to kind of face at this point, but I don’t know,” he added.

Peter also questioned whether the newly announced financial incentive would meaningfully shift the investigation at this stage.

“Something about… I don’t know. 24 days in, do we really think a $1 million reward is going to change anything?” he asked.

Throughout the video, Zack Peter also emphasized his sympathy for the Guthrie family, reiterating that his “heart breaks” for them. He explained that he had attempted to bring “humor and levity and light” to what he described as a “very, very dark story.”

He further expressed frustration over the lack of transparency nearly a month into the case, pointing out that there were still “absolutely no answers” and “no clarity” even after 24 days.

He claimed that Sheriff Nanos appeared to be “gatekeeping” information, referencing reports of “potentially two people” spotted in security footage, a detail that, according to Peter, even Nanos did not confirm in his latest statement.

Describing the official response as uncertain and vague, with authorities saying the sighting was “speculation” and that neither the sheriff nor the FBI had confirmed it, Peter admitted he was “losing faith.” He ended the segment on a note of visible frustration as he asked:

“I don’t know how I’m feeling about this. Nancy? Where’s Nancy?”

The investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance remained active and ongoing. Alongside Savannah Guthrie’s latest effort to increase awareness and encourage tips, authorities reiterated their call for public assistance.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Phoenix field office urged anyone with “firsthand knowledge” of Guthrie’s whereabouts to come forward and contact the FBI tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI (as per BBC). Until now, the total reward in the case had stood at $200,000, with $100,000 offered by the FBI and an additional $100,000 provided through Tucson Crime Stoppers.
