Star batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi smashed a MS Dhoni-like helicopter six in the ongoing U-19 World Cup 2026 semi-final clash between India and Afghanistan. The game is being played in Harare on Wednesday, February 4.

On the first ball of the tenth over of India’s chase, Vaibhav Suryavashi smashed Nooristani Omarzai for a brilliant six. It was almost a yorker-length delivery, which he whipped for a maximum, which was a helicopter shot. The left-hander cleared his front leg to get under the ball and in a solid position to smack it out of the park.

His high back-lift came into play with beautiful wrist work as he hit the ball for a six on the leg side.

Earlier, Afghanistan put up a solid batting display, scoring 310/4 batting first. Faisal Shinozada and Uzairullah Niazai scored hundreds.

India needed a strong start in a big chase under pressure in an important fixture. Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Aaron George provided the same with a 90-run stand for the opening wicket in just 9.3 overs.

Suryavanshi was the accelerator, taking the attack to the opposition right from the word go. He was at his usual best, going after the bowlers mercilessly. The left-hander smashed a quickfire blistering 68 off just 33 balls. He brought up his fifty off just 24 balls.

His knock included nine boundaries and four maximums at a strike rate of 206.06. While he hit Omarzai for a helicopter six, the Afghanistan pacer had the last laugh, dismissing Suryavanshi on the third ball of the tenth over.

He bowled a short delivery that got the better of the left-hander yet again. He tried to pull the delivery from outside the off-stump but ended up getting a top edge that went straight to mid-wicket.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi has had significant impact in the tournament. From six games, he has scored 264 runs at an average of 44.00 and a strike rate of 147.48 with three half-centuries. His top score of 72 came in the group stage clash against Bangladesh.
