The Players Championship 2026 will begin on Thursday at TPC Sawgrass, with several notable groupings scheduled for the opening round of the PGA Tour’s flagship event. The Players Championship will be played from March 12–15 in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

A total of 123 golfers will compete in The Players Championship this year, which is smaller than the 144-player field seen in previous editions of The Players Championship.

Defending champion Rory McIlroy and World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler headline the field at The Players Championship 2026. The tournament field also includes several past winners of The Players Championship along with multiple major champions and FedEx Cup winners.

One of the notable early groups features Brooks Koepka, who is returning to TPC Sawgrass in his first season back on the PGA Tour. He will play alongside Arnold Palmer Invitational winner Akshay Bhatia and Tony Finau. The trio will start their opening round at 8:28 a.m. ET from the 10th tee.

Another strong grouping features Collin Morikawa, Ludvig Åberg and Si Woo Kim who tee off at 8:40 a.m. ET. Shortly after, Scottie Scheffler will begin his campaign at 8:52 a.m. alongside Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Thomas.

In the afternoon wave, Sahith Theegala, Jordan Spieth and Rickie Fowler will tee off at 1:30 p.m. ET. Defending champion Rory McIlroy will follow at 1:42 p.m., playing alongside Xander Schauffele and Hideki Matsuyama.
