Team India skipper Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed for 11 off six balls in the T20 World Cup 2026 semifinal against England at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday, March 5. He walked out to bat in the 14th over after the side were asked to bat first.

However, it was a brief stay at the crease for the hard-hitting batter as he perished to veteran leg-spinner Adil Rashid in the 16th over. On the third ball of the over, Suryakumar played the slog sweep to perfection, clearing the square leg fence for a six.

Rashid enjoyed the last laugh in the battle, dismissing the 35-year-old on the very next delivery. He dished out a full-length googly. Suryakumar went for the sweep, but the ball snuck under the bat.

India manage to post a mammoth total despite Suryakumar Yadav’s failed outing

Suryakumar Yadav’s batting failure didn’t stop India from registering a massive total in the all-important semifinal. Opener Sanju Samson continued his wonderful form, scoring 89 runs off 42 balls, hitting seven sixes and eight fours.

Shivam Dube (43 off 25) and Ishan Kishan (39 off 18) also chipped in with crucial contributions, while Hardik Pandya (27 off 12) and Tilak Varma (21 off 7) upped the ante towards the back end of the innings.

The Suryakumar Yadav-led side ultimately finished on 253/7 in 20 overs. Will Jacks and Adil Rashid picked up two wickets each for England. It is worth mentioning that India registered the highest-ever total in T20 World Cup knockouts.

The winner of the ongoing semifinal will join New Zealand in the T20 World Cup 2026 final. The summit clash will take place at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, March 8.
