On January 29, 2026, the official website for the live-action film adaptation of Yuto Suzuki’s SAKAMOTO DAYS revealed the cast visuals and identities of three key members of ORDER, the elite special operations unit under the Japanese Association of Assassins (JAA). The film is set to release in Japan on April 29, 2026.

The newly announced cast members are Takumi Kitamura as Nagumo, Yusei Yagi as Shishiba, and Meru Nukumi as Osaragi. The movie stars Japanese idol boy band Snow Man’s Ren Meguro as Taro Sakamoto. Along with the cast reveal, a special video featuring footage centered on ORDER is also released.

SAKAMOTO DAYS: Live-action plot details, cast and more revealed

The live-action SAKAMOTO DAYS film adapts the manga by Yuto Suzuki, which has been serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump since November 2020. The story follows Taro Sakamoto, once the most feared assassin in Japan, who leaves that life behind after falling in love, getting married, and starting a family.

Now running a small neighborhood shop, Sakamoto is forced back into action when enemies from his past resurface. In the film, Ren Meguro portrays both sides of Sakamoto’s character, shifting between his plump 140-kilogram appearance and his lean, combat-ready form during intense action sequences.

The newly revealed characters belong to ORDER, the top-tier special operations unit directly under the JAA, the largest assassin organization in Japan. ORDER is considered the highest combat force in the assassin world and is responsible for eliminating high-risk targets designated by the association to maintain balance. Sakamoto himself has once been part of this unit, and the film has now officially introduced three of its strongest members.

Takumi Kitamura plays Nagumo, Sakamoto’s former peer from his hitman days. Nagumo is known for his laid-back attitude, sharp combat instincts, and mastery of disguise.

Yusei Yagi, a vocalist from the dance and vocal group FANTASTICS, plays Shishiba. Shishiba is a calm, grounded character who speaks in a Kansai (Kyoto-style) dialect and uses a nail hammer as his weapon. He often works alongside his junior, Osaragi, and is known for being considerate despite his cool demeanor.

Meru Nukumi plays Osaragi, a rookie member of ORDER. Osaragi wears a black dress, has a gentle and absent-minded personality. She fights using a massive electric chainsaw, creating a strong contrast between her appearance and her combat style. She usually works alongside Shishiba, and her overly relaxed remarks often draw sarcastic responses from him.

In addition to the ORDER members, the previously announced cast of the live-action SAKAMOTO DAYS includes Fumiya Takahashi as Shin Asakura, Aya Ueto as Aoi Sakamoto, and Miyu Yoshimoto as Hana Sakamoto. Other cast members also include Mayu Yokota as Lu Shaotang, Junki Tozuka as Heisuke Mashimo, Akihisa Shiono as Kashima, and Keisuke Watanabe as Natsuki Seiba.

In addition, the production has unveiled the visual for X also known as Slur, the story’s most dangerous and mysterious antagonist. While the character’s appearance has been revealed, the actor playing X has not yet been announced.

The film SAKAMOTO DAYS is directed and written by Yuichi Fukuda, known for live-action Gintama and Under Ninja. Keiya Tabuchi is in charge of action direction, and the film is produced by CREDEUS with Avex Pictures. Fukuda has stated that editing is already complete and that even without CG and music added yet, he believes the film is already strong enough to be shown in theaters.

Meanwhile, SAKAMOTO DAYS has expanded beyond manga into multiple formats. It has inspired novels in April 2023 and December 2024, a spinoff manga titled Sakamoto Holidays launched in July 2024, and an anime adaptation that premiered in January 2025 on TV Tokyo and Netflix. The anime’s second part has aired in July 2025. The manga enters its “final battle” arc in August 2025.

With the reveal of ORDER and its key members, the SAKAMOTO DAYS live-action film continues to build momentum ahead of its April 29, 2026 theatrical release in Japan.
