The AEW World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) is gearing up for a huge title defense. The star is set to defend his title on this week’s episode of Dynamite.
MJF was irate this past week on Collision about his upcoming Texas Deathmatch stipulation against Hangman Page. This led to a confrontation with Kevin Knight. The champion then issued the challenge to the rookie for Wednesday. Knight has been impressive during his stint with AEW. Knight and his tag team partner “Speedball” Mike Bailey teamed up with Hangman Page to defeat The Opps for the AEW Trio’s Championships.
This week’s episode of Dynamite will emanate from the Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas. Knight took to social media to share his state of mind ahead of the huge title clash. He posed with the Trios Championship and predicted that he would add another title to the collection this Wednesday at Dynamite.
“Adding another one to the collection tomorrow on #AewDynamite😤 #TheNow,” Kevin wrote.
MJF has been a fighting champion
MJF won the AEW World Championship at Worlds End in a Fatal Four-Way match, which also included Samoa Joe, Hangman Page, and Swerve Strickland. Since then, the Salt of the Earth has had a target on his back. He has defended the title several times.
Friedman has now held the title for over 60 days, and during this time, he has successfully defended the gold both in AEW and outside the promotion. He thwarted off challenges from the likes of Bandido, Alec Price, and Zilla Fatu. At Grand Slam: Australia, the star defeated Brody King to hold on to the championship.
He is now set for a huge title defense against longtime rival Hangman Page at Revolution 2026. The fate of the AEW World Championship will be decided in a Texas Death Match.
