Kid Rock is continuing to garner criticism in the wake of his TPUSA-sponsored “all-American alternative” Super Bowl halftime show.

On Monday, the veteran country singer appeared on Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle to denounce Bad Bunny’s official halftime show as incomprehensible owing to its use of the Spanish language. He also went further and had a few choice words for show organizer Jay-Z:

”Nothing against Jay-Z, I respect him for his hustle, you know, his music, but it seems like there’s a little bit of a DEI hire there going on. ‘Oh… Black guys love Jay-Z.’ And of course, I’m not that ignorant, I know a lot of us love Jay-Z, not just Black guys.”

Those comments drew much criticism from former ESPN host Jemele Hill, who wrote on her social media:

“Kid Rock, of all people, called Jay-Z — arguably the greatest hip-hop artist ever and a billionaire — a “DEI hire. His stupidity is truly terminal.”

Jason Whitlock pleased at Kid Rock’s Super Bowl halftime show, calls it “a message” towards NFL

For all the criticism he has had to endure, Kid Rock does have some supporters. Among them is veteran sportscaster Jason Whitlock, who praised the “All-American Halftime Show” on his “Fearless” podcast:

“The (NFL) has chosen wickedness. And Kid Rock and that halftime show (are) going to be that rock that humbles (them) and sends a message to all of sports that fans are owed respect. (They) have become so arrogant that they thought they were untouchable. And finally, we touched them through Kid Rock, through this halftime show.”

He continued:

“(Kid Rock) didn’t need to involve himself with the event. … He could have taken that halftime platform that TPUSA built and spewed a bunch of political rhetoric. He could have cursed out the left, but he didn’t do that. He stuck to the music. He stuck to a consistent message.”

Viewership for the TPUSA halftime show is now estimated to be at 21 million viewers on YouTube.
