On Saturday, Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy weighed in on the Rotten Tomatoes rating for The Housemaid, starring Sydney Sweeney.
The film currently holds a 92% “popcorn” score on Rotten Tomatoes, indicating that the majority of viewers enjoyed it for its performances and sheer entertainment. Despite that high rating, Portnoy seems to disagree with the general consensus.
Thanks for the submission!
“The Housemaid being a 92 popcorn score on Rotten Tomatoes is disgusting. Is there no humanity left? IS THERE NO HUMANITY LEFT!!!” Portnoy tweeted on Saturday.

The Housemaid has also received a solid critic rating of 78%, though some reviewers have criticized it for being flawed, with a convoluted and forgettable plot. Portnoy also seems to question how the movie’s popcorn score managed to reach 92% in the first place.
Despite the mixed reactions to The Housemaid, the movie has been a massive financial success. Made on a relatively modest $35 million budget, it has already earned roughly 10 times that amount. According to Box Office Mojo, the film has grossed between $356 million and $359 million worldwide, including about $124 million in the U.S. and Canada and over $230 million internationally.
Dave Portnoy lost big bet following Patriots’ Super Bowl LVI defeat
Dave Portnoy was especially fired up during the buildup to Super Bowl LX, which isn’t surprising given that he’s a lifelong New England Patriots fan. The Barstool Sports founder even revealed that he placed a $50,000 bet on New England to win the big game at the start of the season, a stake that would have returned $1.8 million had the Patriots won the game.
Unfortunately, Super Bowl LX ended in disappointment for Portnoy and his Patriots, who lost 29‑13 to the Seattle Seahawks at Levi’s Stadium on Feb. 8.
Portnoy also recognized the Seahawks’ performance in a post on X after the game.
“Congrats to the @Seahawks. They were better than us today,” Portnoy tweeted.
The Patriots were clearly outplayed throughout the game, failing to score until the fourth quarter. However, many point to quarterback Drake Maye’s shoulder issue as a major reason for his struggles and the team’s overall lackluster performance.
Entering the offseason, the Patriots will likely target roster improvements following a season that showed promise. Fans, including Portnoy, will be counting on their standout quarterback in his third year to lead the team back into contention for another Super Bowl run.
