Dallas Mavericks forward Cooper Flagg will not take part in the 2026 NBA All-Star Game. However, the former Duke star will compete at NBA All-Star Weekend 2026 as part of the Castrol Rising Stars event.

Flagg was selected as one of the 10 rookies for the Rising Stars contest and selected by NBA Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony with the first pick during the Rising Stars draft, on Team Melo.

Cooper Flagg was joined on Team Melo by Stephon Castle, Reed Sheppard, Dylan Harper, Jeremiah Fears, Collin Murray-Boyles and Donovan Clingan. The Rising Stars competition takes place Friday, as the lead-in to the All-Star Weekend.

The 2025 NBA draft No. 1 pick in his first 20 games for the Mavericks averaged 16.7 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. He has shown improvements, averaging 22.8 ppg, 6.6 rpg and 4.7 apg in his last 28 games.

The NBA All-Star Break 2026, its 75th All-Star weekend, returns to Southern California. The league’s midseason showcase will commence on Friday to Sunday, in Inglewood, California, at the Intuit Dome, home of the LA Clippers. The main event, the NBA All-Star Game, is scheduled for Sunday, and will mark the first time the Clippers’ new arena will host the event. It’s also the seventh time the Los Angeles area has staged the annual celebration of basketball’s top talent.

Cooper Flagg earns praise from Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown

Cooper Flagg on Tuesday was praised by Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown on Monday on his Twitch stream following his performance during the Celtics’ 110-100 road win against the Mavericks on Tuesday.

“My boy is him. He’s got my respect for sure…He scored 30 on us on all floaters,” Brown said. “For a 19-year-old? Spectacular.”

Flagg recorded 36 points, which was his third consecutive 30+ points, in the loss. Brown, on the other hand, led Boston with a double-double of 33 points and 11 rebounds.

He achieved another 30+ points in the 135-123 home loss against the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday, becoming the youngest player in NBA history to record 4 straight 30-point games. Additionally, he also became the first rookie since Michael Jordan (1985) to record four straight games with 30+ points and 5+ rebounds, and the first rookie since Allen Iverson (1997) to record 150+ points over any four game span.
