Reed Blankenship signed a three-year, $24.75 million contract with the Houston Texans as a free agent, reports confirmed on Monday. The safety was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent in 2022 and played the past four seasons with them.
After Blankenship’s move to the Texans was completed, Philly cornerback Cooper DeJean shared an emotional message for his former teammate on Instagram.

“Damn, gonna miss my dawg. Go be great brotha,” DeJean wrote while dedicated an Instagram story to Blankenship.

The Eagles drafted DeJean in the second round in 2024. He played with Blankenship for two years in Philly.
DeJean and Blankenship played key roles in the Eagles’ defense to help them win the Super Bowl in 2025.

A look at Reed Blankenship’s stats with the Eagles


Reed Blankenship recorded 308 tackles (204 solo), nine interceptions, three tackles for loss, three fumble recoveries and 23 pass breakups across 56 regular-season games for the Eagles. He also posted 44 tackles (25 solo), one tackle for loss, two forced fumbles and one pass breakup in eight playoff games.
Blankenship went to two Super Bowls with Philly, winning one. He also won three NFC East titles in four years with the Eagles.
It will be interesting to see how Blankenship fares with the Texans next season.
