NBA free agent guard Malik Beasley has joined Santurce Crabbers, a basketball team in Puerto Rico partially owned by Bad Bunny, ESPN reported on Friday. According to Shams Charania, Beasley signed a deal ahead of the Baloncesto Superior Nacional season, which starts in March.
Beasley has not played a single NBA game this season. After a strong 2024-25 season with the Detroit Pistons, he became part of an investigation regarding gambling and placing prop bets on games. Because of this, no team has risked signing him, despite an impressive outing with the Pistons.
Thanks for the submission!
In his lone season with Detroit, Beasley appeared in all 82 games, averaging 16.3 points on 41.6% shooting from deep. The shooting guard finished second in the Sixth Man of the Year voting. Because of his performance for the Pistons, the franchise was reportedly ready to offer him a three-year, $42 million deal in the summer.

Unfortunately for Beasley, that changed when he became subject to NBA and FBI investigations.
As Beasley gears up to play for the Grammy-winning artist’s team, fans revealed their thoughts. Here are some of what they said.
“Bad bunny got more motion than these NBA players 🤦🏻♂️” a fan said.
“It’s Bad Bunny’s world and we’re all just living in it,” another fan commented.
“Malik said NBA don’t want me? Bet. I’ll hoop for Bad Bunny and still drop 25 a night,” one fan said.
Other fans haven’t moved on from Malik Beasley’s gambling allegations.
“From the NBA to playing for a pop star because you can’t stop betting on your own stats,” someone commented.
“That’s wild he could fs help a playoff team rn. That gambling stuff must be pretty bad..” a comment read.
“Malik Beasley going from NBA investigations to hooping on Bad Bunny’s team in Puerto Rico? 😭🔥” one fan commented.
Malik Beasley’s attorney addressed the NBA’s investigation of the player
In August 2025, Shams Charania of ESPN reported that Malik Beasley is no longer a target of the federal gambling investigation. However, there hasn’t been any new update on Beasley. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver also said in September that the basketball player is still under league and federal investigation.
Steve Haney, Beasley’s attorney, addressed his client’s situation and believes it’s all for show.
“It’s a charade,” Haney told Joe Vardon and Mike Vorkunov of The Athletic on Friday. “It’s an utter joke that they’re acting as if they’re investigating with any possibility that they’re going to ‘clear’ Malik when they know that they already went through this process and failed with Rozier, and they don’t want to have that happen again with Malik.”
With the probing investigations, it has been a hindrance for the team to sign Malik Beasley.
