To the editor: Excuse me, however are we ignoring the elephant within the room? This op-ed (“No army technique can cease Mexico’s cartels,” Aug. 26) by no means mentions that the USA is the world’s No. 1 shopper of illicit medicine. Utilizing army drive to fight drug cartels is kind of a determined endeavor that can do little in coping with the basis causes of the drug downside within the U.S.: stress, financial insecurity, poverty and psychological well being points. And with our present state of uncertainty, the issue might be going to worsen. We have to create stronger preventive measures to actually scale back our epidemic dependency.
