Mrs Hinch Opens Up on Heartbreaking Theft
Sophie Rose Hinchliffe, known as Mrs Hinch, has shared a poignant update following a burglary at her mother’s home where thieves took sentimental jewelry belonging to her late father. The 35-year-old influencer expressed deep sadness for her mother, highlighting the emotional toll of losing items like engagement, wedding, and eternity rings.
In an emotional Instagram video, Hinchliffe fought back tears as she described the incident. “I don’t even know where to begin, to be honest with you,” she said. “I feel how I look, to be blunt. But I just, I haven’t been on here for a few days and I’ve missed it, to be honest, because I felt like I was getting back into the swing of everything… to taking a big knock again.”
She emphasized her sorrow for her mother, noting, “I just feel so sad for my mum, because to have jewellery stolen is one thing. But when it seems your engagement ring, your wedding ring, your eternity ring … it’s really stung.” Despite the pain, Hinchliffe remains determined to stay positive, drawing strength from her mother’s words: they won’t let the robbery overshadow the good times they’ve shared recently.
Initial Reaction to the Break-In
On January 27, Hinchliffe first revealed the theft on social media, condemning the perpetrators who targeted her parents’ home in Maldon between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. “To the vile individuals who broke into my parents’ home in Maldon today, 27th January, between 10am and 6pm!!” she wrote. “You broke into a grieving woman’s home and stole her jewellery! Items that belonged to my late Dad. Sentimental, irreplaceable pieces that you had NO right to touch. Let me be very clear!!! This WILL NOT be dropped.”
She described the act as “beyond theft!! it is cruel, disgusting, and cowardly,” urging the thieves to return the items anonymously or hand them in. “That jewellery may be worthless to you, but it is priceless to my mum. She has already lost her husband and is trying to piece her life back together, and you chose to violate her home and rip away what little she had left of him,” Hinchliffe added. “No one deserves this!!!! especially not my mum.”
Hinchliffe thanked supporters who helped spread awareness about the theft. While she holds onto faint hope for the jewelry’s recovery, she now views it as unlikely.
Tribute to Her Late Father
The influencer’s father passed away suddenly in April 2024. In a heartfelt tribute, she shared the profound grief of the loss. “My precious Dad passed suddenly but so peacefully whilst he slept. My life, our whole world, has been turned upside down. A deep unimaginable pain I cannot put into words,” she wrote. “My loving Dad, Our boys beloved Grandad, Your workshop is locked up and I sleep with the key. I promise to keep your workshop dream going. Until we meet and sing together again. Goodnight Dad. My absolute king. Your Bubberloo.”
