(Reuters) -A Mexican man who prosecutors say briefly evaded arrest with the assistance of a Wisconsin decide has agreed to plead responsible to illegally coming into the USA.

Federal prosecutors in Milwaukee on Monday filed a plea settlement with Eduardo Flores-Ruiz, 31, resolving an unlawful reentry cost filed towards him after federal brokers had sought his arrest at a Milwaukee courthouse on April 18.

On that date, he appeared earlier than Milwaukee County Circuit Choose Hannah Dugan in a battery case, and prosecutors have alleged Dugan misdirected the brokers and escorted Flores-Ruiz to a facet exit to assist him escape. The officers caught him exterior the courthouse.

The decide was later indicted on costs of obstruction and concealing an individual needed for arrest. She has pleaded not responsible.

Flores-Ruiz is slated to seem for a plea listening to on August 4. He faces a most sentence of two years in jail and agreed to be deported after his sentence, based on the plea settlement.

His lawyer didn’t instantly reply to a request for remark. A lawyer for Dugan declined to remark.

The case towards Dugan got here after the U.S. Justice Division beneath Republican President Donald Trump vowed to analyze native officers who impede the administration’s aggressive immigration enforcement.

In accordance with the plea settlement, Flores-Ruiz was deported in 2013 after he first entered the USA, then illegally reentered the nation.
