LONDON — A person was arrested on Sunday after a “group of males” unleashed what might have been pepper spray in a parking storage at London’s Heathrow Airport, the police mentioned.
The incident was not being investigated as terrorism, Cmdr. Peter Stevens, of London’s Met Police, mentioned in a press release. Officers have been referred to as simply after 8 a.m. native time to the parking storage at Terminal 3, the place there have been stories of “a number of individuals being assaulted,” the division mentioned.
“Numerous individuals have been sprayed with what’s believed to be a type of pepper spray by a bunch of males who then left the scene,” the police mentioned.
The person who was detained, who was not instantly recognized, remained in custody on suspicion of assault, the police mentioned.

Police mentioned individuals have been transferred by ambulances to native hospitals with accidents that have been considered non life-threatening. Officers didn’t say immediatly how many individuals had been injured.
Terminal 3 remained open, though there was “some disruption of site visitors” within the space close to the parking storage, police mentioned.
Stevens in his assertion mentioned the division deliberate to extend the presence of officers all through the airport, which is among the many busiest in Europe, for the rest of the morning.
