Eight fire engines and approximately 60 firefighters arrived at the scene after initial calls reported at around 6:40 p.m. Crews from stations including Bromley, East Greenwich, and Peckham tackled the flames on the three-story structure. Officials confirmed that nearly half of the roof was destroyed by the fire, which was brought under control by 9:25 p.m.
No injuries occurred during the incident. To protect residents from the heavy smoke, authorities advised keeping windows and doors closed. Road closures were implemented around Rushey Green, leading to traffic delays, and locals were urged to steer clear of the area while crews continued operations into the night.
