To the editor: In 2008, the California Excessive-Velocity Rail Authority estimated that the state would have a high-speed rail line working from San Francisco to Los Angeles by 2020 at a value of $33 billion. In the present day, the estimated value is between $89 billion and $129 billion with an unknown date of completion.
Now, the California Division of Water Sources tells us that the Delta Conveyance Challenge ought to value $20.1 billion and be accomplished by 2044 (“Newsom says California must construct a water tunnel. Opponents argue prices are too excessive,” Aug. 20). If we’ve got discovered something from the high-speed rail venture, why would we be assured in any infrastructure estimates popping out of Sacramento? Idiot me as soon as, disgrace on you.
