To the editor: Australian political leaders don’t get it (“Australia to tighten gun legal guidelines after Bondi Seaside Hanukkah bloodbath,” Dec. 15).
In response to the assault on a Jewish celebration at Bondi Seaside, they concentrate on weapons. The issue isn’t an absence of strict gun legal guidelines — they have already got among the many most stringent such legal guidelines on the earth. The issue is antisemitism.
Individuals who hate Jews can (and do) kill them with any method of means. Australia ought to deal with the latest bloodbath by specializing in combating antisemitism with training, no more gun legal guidelines.
