Tennis star Katie Boulter surprised her fiancé Alex de Minaur with a FaceTime call to share a young fan’s adorable request to serve as ring bearer at their wedding.
Fan Moment at Ostrava Open Victory
Boulter secured her fourth WTA title at the Ostrava Open when a young spectator captured attention with a sign reading, ‘Katie, can I be your ring bearer at the wedding.’ Moments after her win, Boulter dialed de Minaur to show him the poster. The video, shared on social media, shows de Minaur beaming with a wide smile.
‘How cool is that,’ de Minaur remarked, clearly delighted by the gesture.
Couple’s Journey and Engagement
The British player and Australian star, engaged since December 2024, have dated since March 2020 and went public in 2021. They rank among tennis’s most beloved couples.
De Minaur enters the Rotterdam Open as the top seed, positioning him to potentially claim a title this week alongside Boulter’s recent success.
Wedding Buzz and Banter
Interest in their wedding has grown, with speculation pointing to a post-Wimbledon event in July at a destination venue. At the Australian Open, where de Minaur reached the quarterfinals before falling to champion Carlos Alcaraz, tennis legend Jim Courier teased him about planning duties.
‘How involved are you planning to be in this wedding planning or are you gonna leave it to Katie?’ Courier asked.
‘Are you doubting me Jim?’ de Minaur shot back. The exchange continued with laughs: ‘This is like a 50/50 relationship right?’ De Minaur said. ‘You’ve not been married. You don’t know. You’re about to become a 49 per cent shareholder of a really great company,’ Courier replied.
