Jesse Williams, known for his role in Grey’s Anatomy, has joined the cast of Apple TV’s acclaimed series The Morning Show for its fifth season. He steps in alongside Jeff Daniels, bolstering the show’s ensemble.
New Role: Vernon, Head of News
Williams portrays Vernon, UBN’s latest Head of News. This character stands out as a bold provocateur skilled at captivating audiences and holding their attention.
Impressive Ensemble Cast
The fifth season features a powerhouse lineup, including Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, Nicole Beharie, Nestor Carbonell, Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Jon Hamm, and Karen Pittman. Billy Crudup earned Apple TV its first Primetime Emmy in 2020 for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, repeating the win in 2024. The series has secured two additional Emmys in 2024 for Outstanding Contemporary Hairstyling and Outstanding Contemporary Makeup (Non-Prosthetic), with nearly 30 Primetime Emmy nominations to date.
Production Update
Season 4 concluded last November, and Apple TV has not announced a premiere date for season 5. Showrunner Charlotte Stoudt recently indicated a potential 2026 debut, noting delays from the writers’ strike between seasons 3 and 4. “I think so. I haven’t spoken to Apple about any release dates, but between season three and four there was a writers strike, so that was quite a long delay. So without that this year, maybe we’ll move a little more quickly. That’s when I knock on wood!” Stoudt stated.
