To the editor: I learn with appreciation Sam Lubell’s roundup of the yr’s structure standouts (“7 greatest L.A. structure tasks of 2025,” Dec. 19). Yearly, I lament that structure shouldn’t be included within the year-end creative and cultural superlatives lists. This choice is highly effective exactly as a result of it focuses on the sorts of tasks that almost all architects quietly work on.
The brand new designs and renovations of faculties, airports and workplace buildings — in addition to housing, retail and healthcare — have an effect on each individual within the space. As a result of it’s all so naturally round us, structure is usually taken as a right, as are the ingenious practitioners who make our cities and buildings secure, fulfilling and delightful.
