Streamer Kanel Joseph recently went live on Twitch for the first time in 2026 to stream his funeral. The streamer broadcast a live funeral from the church, with his friends and family in attendance. A priest conducted the ceremony, and the camera panned to the content creator’s coffin, leading fans to believe that he may have actually passed away.
However, the funeral was just a part of a gag. In truth, Kanel Joseph is alive and completely okay. Here’s more.
Kanel Joseph livestreams fake funeral
Kanel Joseph’s funeral appeared genuine in the beginning. The church, his friends seated in the pews, and the priest officiating the ceremony all set the joke up well. However, the video can now be seen on his official Twitch channel, which is simply titled ‘He Has Risen’.
This is more than enough to indicate what happens in the video next.
As the priest finishes speaking, Kanel Joseph’s ‘secret boyfriend’, Gus, runs to the coffin and dives straight onto the streamer’s body. This instantly breaks the act, waking him up in a second. His friends then soon joined in to discover that the streamer was just fine with one guest exclaiming:
“That whole time? You were alive that whole time?”
As of the time of writing, it’s unknown how many of the guests were already in on the joke. Regardless, the streamer is completely fine. Shortly after being woken up from his coffin, he was pulled out and was seen joking about the situation as if it were planned already.
Fans who may have only seen the viral clip on social media may have been caught off guard by the funeral’s setup. However, Joseph’s core fans on Twitch may have been aware of the joke, considering the streamer posted on X announcing his own funeral before streaming it live.
The funeral ceremony was not without its own jokes before Kanel Joseph woke up. One of the gags involved the streamer having a secret boyfriend who gave a speech to the audience describing their relationship, much to the shock and awe of everyone inside the church and online.
