Few credit card perks deliver as much value as the free night reward on select Hilton American Express cards.

The certificate can be used for a night at almost any Hilton property, including the brand’s luxurious resorts. They are valid for any night of the week (including weekends) and have no blackout dates.

TPG staffers have redeemed these certificates for some incredible stays.

Here’s how to earn Hilton free night certificates, plus 10 incredible properties where you can put them to great use.

How to earn Hilton free night reward certificates

Hilton’s free night certificate can be redeemed for any standard room, subject to availability. You can book at almost any property, with a few exclusions (mainly timeshare properties), and you aren’t limited by a certain number of points. So, the certificate can be as valuable as you make it.

Three Hilton Amex cards currently offer free night rewards as part of their welcome bonuses.

Plus, the ability to earn free night rewards is a recurring benefit on two Hilton cards.

  • Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card: Receive one free night upon opening the card and then one each year after your account renewal. You can earn a second annual free night by spending $30,000 on the card in a calendar year and a third night when you spend $60,000 in a calendar year.
  • Hilton Surpass: Earn a free night certificate after spending $15,000 on eligible purchases on the card in a calendar year.

The property opened in the Evermore Orlando Resort complex, which sits less than 3 miles away from Walt Disney World, in 2024.

One night at the Conrad Orlando starts from $532 but could rise depending on when you book your stay. Reward nights start at 90,000 points per night. TPG’s March 2026 valuations place Hilton Honors points at 0.5 cents apiece, so 90,000 points would be worth $450.

Relating the number of points required to book the stay back to TPG’s valuations is one method to determine the value of your free night reward.

You can book one night at Baros Maldives from $932 or 180,000 points. Katie used two free night rewards (one from her Hilton Aspire and another from her husband’s card) for a two-night stay that would have otherwise cost $2,156. With Hilton points valued at 0.5 cents apiece (per TPG’s valuations), Katie more than doubled the value she received by using points, as 180,000 points are worth $900.

Best ways to maximize a Hilton free night certificate

Since the main limitations of Hilton free night certificates are availability and a few excluded properties, there are many ways to get significant value from your reward night.

Two ways to ensure maximum value are to use your certificate during the peak travel season at your destination or to book luxury resorts, which generally cost more in points or cash.

In general, you’ll get more value out of any property charging about $450 or 90,000 points per night, based on TPG’s valuations. The best way to ensure you’re getting maximum value is to compare the free night to what you would pay in either cash or points.

Bottom line

These are just 10 among hundreds of gorgeous stays you can book at no cost thanks to a Hilton Amex card’s uncapped free night reward.

Most of these examples provide a value of around $500, per TPG’s valuations, but there are certainly ways to get even more out of your free night (such as staying at resorts and booking during peak travel seasons).

The most important consideration is that you have to use your certificate within a year of receiving it. Otherwise, the world is practically your oyster.

But if you’re dreaming of a white sand beach or gorgeous foliage at no cost, consider applying for a Hilton card that provides a free night reward.
