Former College of Michigan soccer coach Sherrone Moore was booked into jail on Wednesday in a city outdoors Ann Arbor, in response to authorities, hours after he was fired from his place. 

Moore was booked into the Washtenaw County Jail, each the jail and the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Workplace confirmed to CBS Information Detroit on Wednesday night time. Moore stays lodged within the Washtenaw County Jail Thursday.

In a separate information launch, Pittsfield Township police didn’t identify Moore, however mentioned officers had responded to a location within the 3000 block of Ann Arbor Saline Highway simply after 4 p.m. native time for an alleged assault.

The incident didn’t look like random in nature, police mentioned.

“The suspect was lodged on the Washtenaw County Jail pending overview of fees by the Washtenaw County Prosecutor. The college introduced earlier Wednesday that Moore was fired after a college investigation discovered “credible proof” that he had been engaged in an “inappropriate relationship with a workers member.”

In an announcement, Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel mentioned Moore had been “terminated with trigger, efficient instantly.” 

“This conduct constitutes a transparent violation of College coverage, and U-M maintains zero tolerance for such conduct,” Manuel mentioned. 

Moore served as head coach for the previous two seasons, main the No. 18 Wolverines to a mixed 16-8 file and a victory within the ReliaQuest Bowl final yr.   

The college has appointed Biff Poggi because the interim coach. Poggi beforehand served as affiliate coach from 2021 to 2022 earlier than occurring to function head coach at Charlotte till November 2024. He returned to the Michigan workers in 2025.
