Estonia has known as for consultations with NATO allies after three Russian MiG-31 fighter jets entered its airspace over the Gulf of Finland for 12 minutes on Friday with out authorization. In response, Italy, Finland, and Sweden scrambled jets as a part of NATO’s mission to strengthen its japanese flank. A NATO spokesperson condemned the incident as one other show of “reckless Russian behaviour” and highlighted the alliance’s readiness to react. Whereas Russia denied the violation, the occasion comes amid rising tensions, with Poland and Romania just lately reporting incursions by Russian drones into their airspace.
