Denmark defended its authority over Greenland on Sunday after President Trump and the spouse of a Trump adviser renewed requires the U.S. to annex the territory.

On Saturday, Katie Miller, spouse of President Trump’s deputy chief of workers Stephen Miller, posted an image of the American flag masking Greenland on X. She captioned the picture with the phrase “SOON.”

Then on Sunday, Trump stated in an interview with The Atlantic that Greenland may very well be topic to future U.S. intervention.

“We do want Greenland, completely,” Trump stated. “We want it for protection.”

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen stated in a press release Sunday that the U.S. has “no proper to annex” territories of Denmark and has informed the U.S. to “cease the threats” about taking on Greenland.

Jesper Møller Sørensen, Denmark’s ambassador to the U.S., responded to Miller’s put up, saying “we anticipate full respect for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Denmark.”
