Grammy-winning artist Chappell Roan has ended her partnership with Wasserman Music following the release of emails linking the agency’s CEO, Casey Wasserman, to Jeffrey Epstein’s associate Ghislaine Maxwell.
Roan’s Instagram Announcement
Roan, known for her hit “Good Luck, Babe!”, shared her decision on Instagram Stories. “I hold my teams to the highest standards and have a duty to protect them as well,” she wrote. “No artist, agent or employee should ever be expected to defend or overlook actions that conflict so deeply with our own moral values.”
She emphasized the move’s potential to drive industry change: “Artists deserve representation that aligns with their values and supports their safety and dignity. This decision reflects my belief that meaningful change in our industry requires accountability and leadership that earns trust.”
Details from the Unsealed Epstein Files
The emails, part of documents unsealed in January 2026, date back to 2003—three years before Epstein’s arrest on child sex offense charges. In one exchange, Wasserman tells Maxwell, “Where are you, I miss you. I will be in NYC for 4 days starting April 22…can we book that massage now?”
Maxwell later asked about renting a house in California, adding, “I can’t sleep – where are you when I need you?”
Wasserman, who leads planning for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, faces no charges or accusations of criminal wrongdoing in the Epstein case.
Wasserman’s Response
Wasserman stated he “never had a personal or business relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.” He expressed regret: “I deeply regret my correspondence with Ghislaine Maxwell,” noting the allegations were unknown at the time. He added he was “terribly sorry” for any association with Maxwell or Epstein.
Other High-Profile Departures
Wasserman represents major acts including Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, Lorde, Imagine Dragons, and Pharrell. Billie Eilish, known for “Birds of a Feather,” left in 2024 amid allegations of Wasserman’s affairs with employees, involving gifts like Louboutin shoes, La Perla lingerie, and Range Rover vehicles.
Roan’s Recent Controversies
Roan, whose real name is Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, has faced other scrutiny. In 2024, she compared fame to an “abusive ex-husband” during an interview, citing online harassment and stalking by fans.
She initially declined to endorse Kamala Harris, stating, “F*** Trump for f***ing real, but f*** some of the s*** that has gone down in the Democratic party that has failed people like me and you,” before confirming her vote. Roan also skipped a White House Pride event, arguing the government had not ensured “liberty, justice, and freedom for all.”
