Speculation is building around Carrie Bickmore’s potential return to television screens on Channel Seven, following the recent merger between Seven West Media and Southern Cross Media (SCM).
Merger Opens Doors for Cross-Promotions
The 45-year-old radio host, known for her Hit Network show, exited Channel Ten’s The Project in 2022. With SCM now under Seven West Media’s umbrella after a $385 million to $400 million deal last month, executives aim to leverage popular radio personalities on TV. Bickmore joins talents like Fifi Box and Mick Molloy as prime candidates for upcoming Seven series.
Sources indicate SCM stations, including Triple M, Fox, and Hit Network, are exploring opportunities for Seven stars such as Sonia Kruger and Larry Emdur to transition into radio roles.
Industry Buzz from Merger Talks
Prior discussions about the merger last October raised concerns among Channel Seven talent. Insiders noted that such consolidations often lead to staff changes. “Anyone in business knows that when these mergers happen, it generally sets the scene for more shock axings,” one source stated.
Particular attention fell on The Morning Show hosts Larry Emdur, 61, and Kylie Gillies, given their high salaries. “Many believe the show needs a reboot and nobody cares if jobs are lost—it’s all about the bottom line,” the source added.
Recent Spotlight on Bickmore
Bickmore recently drew attention at colleague Jesse Watkins’ wedding, wearing a shimmering cream two-piece set by Koster Kulture. The outfit featured a long skirt with a high thigh slit. She shared with fans that she spotted it “on a beautiful girl on New Year’s Day and asked what it was and stole her look!”
The former Project star glowed alongside co-host Tommy Little, amid ongoing romance rumors fueled by their on-air chemistry and social media interactions. The duo has appeared together at events, including a golf tournament in Adelaide, a trip to Uluru, and the LIV Golf tournament, where Bickmore posted a photo of them embracing.
These rumors intensified after Bickmore’s public split from long-time partner Chris Walker in 2023.
