A 21-year-old College of Kentucky athlete was arrested and accused of hiding her lifeless toddler, wrapped in a towel, in a trash bag in a closet to hide the latest start, police stated.

Laken Ashlee Snelling, who a univeristy spokesperson stated was a senior and a member of the aggressive cheer stunt crew, is anticipated to be charged with concealing the start of an toddler, tampering with bodily proof and abuse of a corpse, in line with a police quotation.

She was arrested Sunday and booked into the Fayette County Detention Middle, Lexington, Kentucky, police stated in a press release.

It isn’t clear if Snelling has a lawyer. The state Division of Public Advocacy, which offers some defendants with authorized illustration, didn’t instantly reply to a request for info Monday evening.

The Lexington police arrest quotation for Snelling, obtained by NBC affiliate WLEX of Lexington, states officers had been dispatched to her residence Wednesday morning after receiving a report {that a} deceased toddler was in a closet.
