The WWE Universe is excited as WrestleMania 42 draws closer. Although the match card is still shaping up, it appears that eight superstars who left ‘Mania 41 as champions might not enter the upcoming extravaganza holding those same titles.

That said, let’s take a look at these WWE Superstars who won championships at WrestleMania 41 but have lost their titles since.

Thanks for the submission!

#8. Former WWE Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio

Bron Breakker put the WWE Intercontinental Championship on the line against Finn Bálor, Dominik Mysterio, and Penta on Night Two of WrestleMania 41. After a hard-hitting battle, Dominik pinned his former Judgment Day stablemate, Balor, to win the title. This marked the younger Mysterio’s first singles title win in the company.

After holding the IC Title for a long time, ‘Dirty’ Dom finally lost the belt to John Cena on the November 10, 2025, episode of RAW. However, he managed to win it back a few weeks later at Survivor Series: WarGames, with the help of a returning Liv Morgan. Despite regaining the gold, Dominik lost it again to Penta two weeks ago on the red brand.

#7. & #6. Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods (The New Day)

After turning heel late in 2024 and kicking Big E out of The New Day, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods went on to WrestleMania 41 Night One and defeated The War Raiders to win the World Tag Team Championship.

However, Kingston and Woods eventually lost the tag title to The Judgment Day (Finn Bálor and JD McDonagh) on the June 30 episode of Monday Night RAW, ending their reign at 72 days. With ‘Mania 42 fast approaching, it looks like the heels won’t enter the extravaganza as champs.

#5. John Cena

As part of his retirement tour, John Cena defeated Cody Rhodes in the main event of WrestleMania 41 Night Two to win the Undisputed WWE Championship. This stellar victory enabled him to become a 17-time World Champion.

Before his retirement in December 2025, the GOAT dropped the title back to Cody Rhodes in the main event of SummerSlam Night Two.

#4. Jey Uso

Jey Uso won the 2025 Men’s Royal Rumble Match and went on to defeat Gunther on the First Night of WrestleMania 41 for the World Heavyweight Championship. Sadly, he dropped the gold back to The Ring General in a rematch on WWE RAW after Money in the Bank.

After The Usos’ reunion late last year, the twins defeated The Judgment Day (Finn Balor and JD McDonagh) to win the World Tag Team Championship. Although it seems that The YEET Master might go into ‘Mania 42 as a champion, he will still not be entering the event as a world champion.

#3. Jacob Fatu

On Night 1 of WrestleMania 41, Jacob Fatu defeated LA Knight to win the WWE United States Championship. This marked his first singles championship win in the Stamford-based promotion.

After turning face by betraying Solo Sikoa at Money in the Bank, the Samoan Werewolf lost the US Title to Sikoa at Night of Champions. That said, considering his current storyline, it seems likely that Fatu won’t feature at WrestleMania 42 as champion.

#2. & #1. Becky Lynch and Lyra Valkyria

Becky Lynch took out Bayley backstage at WrestleMania 41 and replaced her in a tag team match alongside Lyra Valkyria the following night. They then defeated The Judgment Day (Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez) to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.

On the following episode of RAW, the duo lost the titles back to Morgan and Rodriguez. After the match, Lynch attacked Valkyria, turning heel for the first time since 2022. Although The Man later defeated Lyra to win the Women’s Intercontinental Title, she eventually lost it to AJ Lee at Elimination Chamber 2026 after previously dropping it to Maxxine Dupri.

While fans expect The Irish star to run it back with AJ at The Show of Shows, it seems obvious that Becky isn’t going to ‘Mania 42 as champion.
