Pitching is on fire again.
Several stars on the mound — both fresh-faced and well-traveled — lit it up last season, including a rookie in Pittsburgh.
It’s nearly time to see which flamethrowers can etch their names in the MLB history books after the 2025 season.
Let’s take a look at the odds for the AL and NL Cy Young Awards at DraftKings Sportsbook as of July 28.
American League Cy Young 2025
Tarik Skubal: -450 (bet $10 to win $12.22 total)
Garrett Crochet: +300 (bet $10 to win $40 total)
Jacob deGrom: +1500 (bet $10 to win $160 total)
Hunter Brown: +4000 (bet $10 to win $410 total)
Framber Valdez: +5000 (bet $10 to win $510 total)
What to know: Detroit’s Tarik Skubal was last season’s winner in the AL, and it looks like he just might go back-to-back. The 28-year-old is off to a strong start in 2025. He’s 10-3 with 171 strikeouts (third in MLB) in 21 starts, alongside a 2.09 ERA (second) and 0.84 WHIP (first). The last pitcher to win the award twice in a row was Jacob deGrom for the New York Mets in 2018 and 2019. Second on the board is Boston’s Garrett Crochet at +300, who is 12-4 (T-first) with 175 strikeouts (first) and a 2.23 ERA (fourth) in 22 starts.
National League Cy Young 2025
Paul Skenes: -175 (bet $10 to win $15.71 total)
Zack Wheeler: +125 (bet $10 to win $22.5 total)
Christopher Sanchez: +2000 (bet $10 to win $210 total)
Ranger Suarez: +6000 (bet $10 to win $610 total)
Logan Webb: +6000 (bet $10 to win $610 total)
What to know: Pittsburgh’s Paul Skenes has gone back and forth on the board with Philadelphia’s Zack Wheeler. Skenes is 6-8 through 22 starts, but most of that has to do with a lack of offensive support. He leads MLB with a 1.83 ERA and ranks fourth with a 0.90 WHIP, in addition to 146 strikeouts (sixth) so far this season. In his last five outings, four of them have been scoreless. His most recent was on Sunday, when he threw 99 pitches, his highest pitch count in over a month. Second on the board is Wheeler, who is 9-4 with a 2.56 ERA (10th), 172 strikeouts (second) and a 0.89 WHIP (second).
